The popular fashion show Wills Fashion Week London, which is underway in the capital, will see fashion stars, models and celebrities strut their stuff on the London stage this week as the programme rakes in the attention of fashionistas and fans. Wills London Fashion Week (WLFW) will be bringing a bevy of designers together for the first time, showcasing the trends and accessories which will define the Spring/Summer 2009 collections. It is set to draw in visitors from across the world in preparation for September’s September’s London Fashion Week (LFW). Organised by partner agency Davies & Thompson, WLFW will showcase shows by over 25 leading international fashion houses, including Mulberry, Fritie, Anthony Vaccarello, Joe Cashmere, Phillipa Brown and Jonathan Saunders, alongside new designers and established designers from the UK. On the programme this year will be SS 2009 – Spring/Summer collections presented by Geoffrey Beene, Jim Kerr, Christopher Shannon, Tommy Hilfiger and Marcus Wainwright. There will also be a focus on the SoHo Project and James Dean collaboration with Gisele Bundchen, as well as more exclusive designs, where the fashionistas can see stars of a very different nature. Nick Knight, creative director of Vogue Hommes International, will host a one-night-only fashion show for Vogue Italia on Friday 23rd May in association with Armani, and Harrods. Knight will show the best of what new talent there is in the UK and internationally across the fashion range. Alexander McQueen, who died just weeks after he launched his own brand, will be celebrated for the first time with a fashion show which will see all his major collections put together. The exhibition will also salute the world-wearier side of the label’s aesthetic, with a show of underwear and costumes – which appeared in his work as both fantasy and fact. Other highlights of the event include a catwalk show by menswear fashion house Hugo Boss, a run down Royal Collection, a retro shoe collection, a special tribute to Sir Paul Smith (who recently resigned from his position at Versace after a full-page advert in the Evening Standard ), an exciting collection for the London Pride event, the launch of a new UK and Europe range by Jenny Packham.
