Before you begin use the software, you need to configure KeyMacro. You may start keymacro configuration now. As soon as keymacro software is installed, you can start configuring it. Keymacro is mainly used for keyboard shortcuts in Microsoft office applications. The list of available keymacro profiles can be found here. The software has a simple and intuitive interface. You can easily create and edit keyboard profiles. After a keyboard profile is created, you may assign it a name and store it in the internal database.
Keymacro works as an active application, which means that it starts up automatically when you log in.
Create a new Profile
The main window of the software looks like this:
You can edit a profile by clicking on it. The editing window is similar to the one of the application window, in which the available fields are shown. If you click on the menu button, you get additional functions for editing and storing profiles. All the available keyboard shortcuts are listed in the menu. You can easily create a new profile. If a profile is already available, you are asked to assign a new name. To add a new shortcut, click on the Add button.
Fields for the profile
You can use any of the fields in the Profile Window. After you have entered the shortcut, it is validated. Only fields, that are marked by a red border, are validated. You can edit and change the shortcut easily. In the field of the Shortcut Description, you may also enter a description that is shown in the context menu of the shortcut when you click on it. This is the same description, that is shown in the user interface.
If you click on the arrow button, you get an additional field for storing the modifier key. The modifier key is for example shift, ctrl, alt, and others. The modifier keys can be used to assign any other command to a keyboard shortcut. In the following example, the window is closed by pressing the alt key.
When you have created a profile, you may save it in the internal database or assign it a name in the database.
Assign a name and save a profile
To save the new profile, click on the Name (New) button.
The window for assigning a name to the profile is shown. You can use the currently shown name as a short name for the profile.
To assign a name, just enter a name in the text box.
